Judo Fisdir, winning Sicily at the Ravenna Meeting ⋆ Sport Web Sicily

It was held in Ravenna, last May 5, the 18th edition of Le Giornate dello Sport as Integrationan international meeting organized by ASD Judo Sport Therapy Center Ravenna al André Shovel which involved a hundred athletes from all over Italy, including the foreign delegations of Ireland and Slovenia. Also present to the athletes of the Fisdir Sicily delegation representing 4 companies SSD Conca D’Oro, Sport21Sicilia, ASD Enrico Ling Bagheria and ASD Special Boys.

The event represented an important moment of inclusion and discussion between young people with relational intellectual disabilities of different nationalities, which allowed them to put to use all their technical and physical abilities learned in the gym, but also allowed the companies to which they belong to evaluate the results of the work carried out in their own structures.

“The Sicilian athletes literally gave a show – declared the regional technical contact person for judo Fisdir Sicily, Giosuè Giglio -, and were the protagonists of excellent meetings and performances. Worthy of note – he continued – were the gold medals won in the -90 kg category by Salvatore Puglisi from Sport21Sicilia from Liparese, absolute ruler of this specialty in the competitive sector, and in the -60 kg category by the current Judown world champion, Davide Best, from ASD Special Boys. It is also important to point out the excellent performances of Michele Mastrilli (Conca D’Oro) and Salvatore Consentino (ASD Enrico Ling – Bagheria), both classified in third place in the -73 kg category and who had to give in to the technical predominance of the Slovenian Karlatec Zan. Also very good were the performances of the very young Emanuele Garofalo (10 years old) who conquered the silver by fighting against a man of the same age and Emanuel Pinto, silver in the -42 kg category. Sicilian Paralympic judo, once again – concluded Giglio – stands out for the grit, determination and high technical level of its athletes who, on this occasion, were able to compete with foreign colleagues and who will soon be involved in prestigious events national and international”.

Paola Baroncelli, national judo technical contact person and president of the organizing company of the event, at the end of the competitions awarded prizes to the athletes who distinguished themselves during the event, rewarding, for the female category, the blue athlete C21/II2 Martina Tomba ( Ginnastica La Marmora Biella) and the Slovenian Karlatec Zan for the men’s.
