One of the biggest betting scandals in football is emerging in Brazil. The judiciary is investigating players and the betting mafia, the first professionals have already been banned. It’s about bought red cards and penalties.

NThere is still a great, dark veil over what could become one of the biggest betting scandals in Brazilian football – and beyond. If the information provided by the Brazilian media is correct, the judiciary is currently investigating 35 people, including well over two dozen players, who are accused of manipulating football games in order to rake in high betting profits. The threads of the investigation are currently coming together at the public prosecutor’s office in the provincial capital of Gois.
