Indicted for the murder of his stepfather, he said he was the victim of his “threats and humiliations”

Sunday morning in Talant, in the suburbs of Dijon, a new argument broke out between the two men before the son-in-law grabbed a baseball bat which was at their home, hitting his father-in-law violently and several times, the public prosecutor of Dijon, Olivier Caracotch, told the press.

The young man then grabbed a kitchen knife to stab his stepfather. The autopsy revealed “five stab wounds”, including one “planted in the skull”, as well as several violent blows of a baseball bat to the back of the head, which caused a “significant bone crash”, specified the prosecutor at a press conference.

“Protect your mother”.

For about ten years, the stepson had shared accommodation with his stepfather and his mother, who were married. But the 61-year-old father-in-law had been “in conflict for years with the son-in-law whom he was asking to leave the home, threatening him verbally on the background of excessive alcohol consumption”.

The young man, who admitted the facts, is not known to the police, nor to justice, nor to social services. He explained his acting out by “the accumulation of threats and humiliations” from his stepfather, but he said that it had remained verbal and not physical harassment.
