India makes history by forming its first professional baseball team | baseball 123

Baseball is increasingly becoming a global sport and reaching more countries. This Monday, India hosts its first professional baseball team and it will be called the Mumbai Cobras.

The team will have purple colors and the symbol will be a cobra, a popular animal in the Asian country and which is also called Naja-Naja. The team’s introduction video shows the city of Mumbai alongside purple colors and a golden cobra.

This team belongs to Baseball United which is the first baseball league in the Middle East and South Asia.

On May 11 Baseball United, partnered with the Amateur Baseball Federation of India (ABFI) which will enable player development, national team training, fan experience, community outreach and government relations. ABFI is internationally recognized by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) and is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.

ABFI is the organization of 26 affiliated teams in six regional zones of India, stretching from Punjab to Kerala in the north and south, to Gujarat and Assam in the east and west respectively.
