The spectator was transported from the stadium on a stretcher and taken to the hospital, but was reportedly conscious and responsive when he left the stadium. It was not immediately known what injuries he sustained in the fall.
“It was definitely scary for a lot of us,” Boston’s Josh Winckowski said after the game. “We were all quite worried and felt uncomfortable.” The game, which the Red Sox ultimately won 5-3, was interrupted for ten minutes. As the scene progressed, an employee could be seen wiping blood from the concrete.
Meanwhile, Max Kepler, the only German player in MLB, hit his fourth home run of the season. His team, the Minnesota Twins, won 2-0 at the Cleveland Guardians and lead the American League’s Central Division. Kepler, 30, is in his ninth season in MLB and the Twins. He has now hit 133 home runs in 859 games.
