“In France, when your skin is a little darker, it’s…”

It is undeniable: the Pierre Palmade affair was one of the major media points at the start of 2023 in France. But many weeks after the fact, the comedian is still not in prison, which necessarily challenged Koba LaD. Guest of Mouloud Achour for Clique, the rapper delivered the substance of his thoughts on this thorny subject.

After 4 months in the shade following a fight, Koba LaD has recently found freedom. It is therefore from his cell that the interpreter of “Cellophané” followed the entire soap opera Pierre Palmade. As a reminder, the fifty-year-old had hit a car in the opposite direction under the influence of alcohol and synthetic drugs, killing a baby in the process. Since then, the comedian has been under judicial supervision in the hospital… but not in prison.

Koba LaD disappointed but not surprised by the treatment given to Palmade

guest of Clique, Koba LaD was asked about his feelings on this Palmade affair. And it is with cash and accusatory words that the artist marked his disapproval. For him, a real difference in treatment exists between whites and others in France in this kind of situation:

Mouloud “Did you follow the Pierre Palmade affair when you were in prison? What did that remind you of? »

Koba LaD : “I followed a bit, yeah. It’s France, what do you want me to tell you? When your skin is a little darker, it’s a little harder. I’m coming out of a nightclub fight, I took four months. He killed a child, he was under I don’t know what, he’s outside. It’s France “.

In fact, Pierre Palmade is not totally free, but under judicial supervision in the hospital. The comedian, however, is now allowed to leave the hospital on weekends to go about his business, which is actually very different from a prison cell. This is the meaning of Koba LaD’s point here, who is a bit fatalistic:

Koba LaD: “I’m not going to cry over my fate, we’re not all white in this story. I’m not trying to compare myself to him, it’s going to get on my nerves. Me is me, and he is him. If he’s not in jail, good for him. What do you want me to tell you? God willing, justice will do its job properly. If now people can be on coke, on alcohol, kill babies, and not go to jail, good for them”

Mouloud: “So the message you received is that star or no star, are you still black? »

Koba LaD: “It’s real anyway. I’m not saying it, it’s them who show it.

Koba LaD raises particularly interesting points in his analysis of the situation of Pierre Palmade, between annoyance and resignation. If he recognizes without difficulty having deserved to go through the prison box, the rapper is surprised that much more serious acts are not sanctioned with the same punishment. Patience, however, while waiting for the trial…
