“Guests that nobody needs!” Eintracht fans cause trouble

Eintracht fans cause trouble

Kolo Muani worth 100 million? “Almost a low price”

Schalke 04 can still hope for relegation in the Bundesliga after an emotional point win. But on the last day of the game, S04 have to do without two players due to suspensions. A scene causes excitement.

Schalke 04 is still alive – but was this point enough to stay up?

The Royal Blues fought a 2-2 (1-1) win against Eintracht Frankfurt on matchday 33, but after VfL Bochum won a point late in the game, they stayed in relegation place 16, one point behind Bochum. But VfB Stuttgart can pass on Sunday.

On the last day of the game, S04 also has to go to RB Leipzig, who is still in action in Munich on Saturday evening with FC Bayern (from 6.30 p.m. in LIVETICKER). S04 will then have to do without striker Simon Terodde and Moritz Jenz, who both saw the fifth yellow card.

Terodde puts Schalke 04 in the lead – then Schwolow makes a mistake

Terodde put Schalke ahead in the first minute in the packed arena, but a goalkeeper mistake by Alexander Schwolow after a long-range shot by Daichi Kamada brought Eintracht back into the game.

Tuta finally scored the opening goal for Frankfurt in the 59th minute. But five minutes before the end of the game, Sebastian Polter redeemed the Royal Blues and gave them at least one point with the much-acclaimed equalizer.

“We limited the damage, but we could have done more,” said Polter after the game Sky.

It will now be difficult for Eintracht with sixth place in the table or impossible if Bayer Leverkusen wins against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Sunday. In the DFB Cup final against Leipzig, however, Frankfurt have another opportunity to play in Europe again in the coming season.

Trouble after the final whistle: “If you need it …”

After the game, loud whistles sounded from the ranks when the substitute players of Frankfurt Eintracht returned to the pitch for the running unit. This led to the formation of packs on the pitch until the Eintracht players went into the dressing room scolding.

Djibril Sow said: “A bit unnecessary. Our players have to make extra runs after the game – and they must have felt provoked. If they need it, then so be it. We stand above it.”

Rode was also less enthusiastic about the S04 fans: “I was at the interview and was told that our players shouldn’t have run out until the opposing sixteen. That would have provoked Schalke – special people here.”

Eintracht banner causes trouble

The SGE fans delivered a pyro show in red and black in the second round. The banner “European Cup Winners of the Randale 2023” can be interpreted as a provocation between the fan groups – in general there was a very heated atmosphere.

The Chief Police Director Peter Both also commented on the incidents in the Eintracht fans’ block: “Anyone who unrolls a banner that reads “European Cup Winner of the Riots 2023!” Shows what a brainchild he is. Guests that no one needs!”

In the police report from Saturday evening at 8:56 p.m., criminal proceedings had already been initiated against “ten members of the Frankfurt fan scene”. The investigations would also be directed against “members of the Schalke fan scene who tried to break through the police lines by force”.

Duel with Bochum a “final” for the S04 coach

Coach Reis had previously described the last game in his own living room as a “final”, his team had to be “brave” and “rigorous in the duels”.

The Schalke supporters did the rest: the spectators in the lower tier came dressed in white, those in the upper tier in blue. Together they whipped their team forward.

The hosts got off to the lightning start they wanted: In the first minute of the game, Terodde headed in a free-kick cross, and deafening cheers erupted in the stadium.

Schalke fought fiercely, but often left the center open – as in the equalizer, when Kamada pulled inside, completed and goalkeeper Schwolow slipped the unplaced shot.

Asamoah angry: “I don’t understand why he doesn’t whistle”

However, the goal was preceded by a hard duel between Christopher Lenz and Cédric Brunner. Referee Daniel Schlager looked at the scene on the screen and saw no clear wrong decision, which is why the goal stood.

License player boss Gerald Asamoah first expressed a lack of understanding on the sidelines and then after the game: “He’s really checked away and doesn’t even hit the ball. So I don’t understand why he doesn’t whistle. He’s also looking at it.”

Schalke coach Reis was also convinced that the referee should have called the whistle for a foul. Unsurprisingly, Eintracht professional Sebastian Rode saw the scene differently and added: “Schalke have completely different problems right now.”

Schlager himself commented on this after the game: “There was contact in the upper body area, which I noticed. I got in touch with the VAR. It was in the gray area. So I wanted to make up my own mind. I looked at the situation and for me the thrusting was standard practice but borderline. You can call it a foul – but there was no reason for me to take the goal back.”

Schalke can do little offensively without Bülter

Coach Oliver Glasner’s guest team, who was on the sidelines for Eintracht for the third time from last, was more enthusiastic about the game. The invited Schalke worked on Randal Kolo Muani and Co. again and again with exaggerated harshness.

On the offensive, Schalke did little without top scorer Marius Bülter, who was suspended. Unlike Eintracht, who took command at the beginning of the second half.

The hosts seemed inhibited – and mistakes crept in. After a cross, the released Tuta only had to push in from a few meters.

The goal showed its effect, but Schalke got up again. Driven by their own fans, the home side mobilized the last of their strength, and Reis also brought on further attackers in Sebastian Polter and Tobias Mohr for the final offensive.

Schalke rewarded themselves – and yet they don’t know what will happen next.
