The top 10 players
- Casper Ruud (NOR/ATP 4) s. Elias Ymer (SWE/ATP 155) 6:4, 6:3, 6:2
Casper Ruud launched the French Open with a clear three-set success on Court Suzanne-Lenglen. In the first round, the Norwegian, who failed last year in Roland Garros in the final against Rafael Nadal, did not have to call up his best tennis. Although he had a negative shots-to-misses ratio (28:34), his Swedish opponent Elias Ymer was unable to put him under serious pressure. After a little more than two hours, Ruud’s victory in the opening event was certain.
Zverev’s successful return
Alexander Zverev (ATP 27) has successfully completed his 1st round against South African Lloyd Harris (ATP 294) 361 days after he twisted his ankle in the Paris semi-final against Nadal and suffered a serious ankle injury. The German prevailed in three sets 7: 6 (8: 6), 7: 6 (7: 0), 6: 1 and will meet Slovakian Alex Molcan on Thursday. The 26-year-old wasn’t completely satisfied with his game, but he was happy about the support of the crowd on the court. “It’s great to be back. I had marked the tournament in bold on my calendar, »said Zverev in an interview.
