Former Chihuahuan baseball player of the Mexican Baseball League (LMB) José ‘Pinto’ Cardona died last Wednesday, May 3, at the age of 81 in the city of Rancho Cucamonga, California.

Originally from Meoqui, Chihuahua, Cardona played for several teams in the Mexican league, including the Diablos Rojos de Tepic in the winter of 1966-67 and also for the Minerales Nacionales team, led by Luis ‘Molinero’ Montes de Oca, this according to information from Jaime Sornia García for Radar Deportivo 2.

‘El Pinto’ lived his last years in the United States, as he played in the ‘Mike Brito Adult Baseball League’ of the renowned Cuban scout Mike Brito (QEPD), who influenced Fernando Valenzuela to sign with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
