First judo safari on Langeoog | Langeoog Current

Last weekend, a judo safari organized by the German Judo Federation (DJB) took place for the first time on the island for the judoka from TSV Langeoog. This very popular club activity consists of a judo, a creative and an athletics competition. Each of these competitions can be individually designed by the participating clubs.

Heini Matzies had the support of Wolfgang Ramm from VfL Germania Leer, who already has a lot of experience in conducting the judo safari. Together they worked out the program. The judo part was carried out in the form of a standing competition, for the creative part the participating children had to paint a picture related to judo and for the athletic part the young judokas had to complete a pendulum run, medicine ball long throw and a standing triple jump.

Points are awarded for the performances shown in the individual competitions, which are then added to a total number of points. The DJB points table distinguishes between six categories, which are then symbolized by animals in the belt colors. There is a yellow kangaroo, a red fox, a green snake, a blue eagle, a brown bear and, as the highest award, a black panther. As a reward for the performance shown, each child receives a certificate, a patch and a sticker for the judo pass with the respective animal sign of the number of points achieved.
