El Salvador Football Tragedy, 12 People Killed Page all

KOMPAS.com – A football tragedy occurred in El Salvador in a match that brought Alianza FC vs Deportivo FAS.

The match Alianza FC vs Deportivo FAS in the quarter-finals of the main division took place at the Monumental Stadium on Sunday (21/5/2023).

The duel between Alianza FC and Deportivo FAS turned tragic. After all, the fight resulted in casualties.

According to reports Sky News, at least 12 people died. Meanwhile, dozens of others were reportedly injured.

A tragic tragedy occurred after a number of fans forced their way into the Monumental Stadium in Cuscatlan.

One of the volunteers described the tragic incident in the Alianza FC vs Deportivo FAS match as an avalanche.

“It’s an avalanche of fans breaking through the entrance,” said the volunteer, quoted from Sky News.

“A number of people were stuck under the tunnel’s iron, while others made it to the stands and then went down to the field and were detained,” he added.

The Salvadoran Football Federation opens up about the tragic incident that occurred in the Alianza FC vs Deportivo FAS match.

“The Salvadoran Football Federation deeply regrets the events that occurred at the Cuscatlan Stadium,” the Salvadoran Football Federation said on Twitter.

The Salvadoran Football Federation then expressed a message of solidarity for those affected.

“Our solidarity with their relatives who were affected and died in this incident,” he said.

The President of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, revealed that the local police would conduct a thorough investigation.

“All parties will be investigated, be it teams, managers, stadiums, leagues, federations and others,” Bukele said on Twitter.

“Whoever did it, they will not be left alone,” added the 41-year-old figure.

The police will conduct an investigation. They will partner with the local prosecutor’s office.
