What does the TSV 1860 squad look like for the coming season? Ex-coach Michael Köllner, of all people, could play a trick on the lions.

Munich – The season is entering the home stretch, and at the same time the clubs are working on their squads for the new season. At TSV 1860 it is clear that the professional budget is shrinking, that many players will no longer be there from the summer. Those were confirmed Farewells to Captain Stefan Lex (moves to the office)Marius Willsch (end of career), Raphael Holzhauser (back to Belgium) and Marcel Bär.

newcomers? So far, none, because the club first has to wait and see how the players, who 1860 absolutely want to keep, decide. Above all: Marius Wörl (19) and Yannick Deichmann (28).

TSV 1860: Köllner does not comment on rumors of change about Deichmann and Wörl

Under coach Maurizio Jacobacci, the duo forms the heart of the team, the control center in defensive midfield. The plan is to build the new team around the two mentality professionals. However: Both players have been hesitating with their decision for weeks, have to weigh up whether 1860 is the ideal club for the next step in their career, whether they prefer to rely on the tried and tested or succumb to the appeal of the new. It’s no secret that the best third and some second division teams are queuing up at Wörl and Deichmann. FC Ingolstadt is also one of the clubs, who bid, which gives the whole thing a spicy touch. Because of the particular rivalry between the two clubs. And above all: Because Michael Köllner took a seat on the FCI coaching chair – exactly 65 days after his release at 1860.

Is Köllner tearing out the heart of the lion now? Does he see the good (free transfer) players or also the reason to annoy or weaken the ex-club? At the request of our newspaper, the Upper Palatinate did not want to comment on the explosive speculation about the change.

FC Ingolstadt wants to completely reorganize the team – with a lion axis?

Of course, Köllner knows better than anyone what makes the players tick, for whom the clubs are now fighting in deep dislike: As a U19 talent, he made Wörl a third division professional, expanded Deichmann’s repertoire on the field (the model fighter came as an offensive player) – and Bär, who is also traded with the FCI, has a lot to thank Köllner for, played the best season of his career (21 goals) under the ex-coach, crowned by winning the top scorer cannon.

Our newspaper knows from the environment of the FCI: The Schanzer would like to completely reorganize their team (like the lions), are also willing to terminate contracts – and spend a lot of money to attract coveted professionals. At Deichmann, there is an annual salary of 300,000 euros (25,000 per month). That is significantly more than the lions can and want to pay – and double what other top clubs in the 3rd division offer.

TSV 1860 and FC Ingolstadt have a special rivalry

Money isn’t the only factor troubling players, though. Everyone appreciates the power that a club like 1860 can unfold, but miss the plan for how things will continue from summer. In the case of Wörl, there are also regional considerations (he comes from Holledau) – and in the case of Bär, the frustration of having an epidemic year behind him (metafoot surgery, only five goals). Confiding again in the man who made you shine would be a very human reflex.

Irony of fate: Twice – in 2020 and 2021 – Ingolstadt and 1860 crossed swords on the last day of the game, each with the better end for the FCI. This time the season is spinning out for both clubs in the no-man’s-land of the table. It only gets exciting again when Wörl & Co. explain who they will play for in the future – and when they meet for the first time in the new season. (funny)
