Compiegne. Marie-Madeleine Huart, Joan of Arc 2023, confides before tonight’s parade

THE Joan of Arc celebrations started to Compiegne. They will last two days, Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 May at think park.

Marie-Madeleine Huart will put on the armor of Joan of Arc on Saturday May 21 at 11 p.m. She will parade on horseback through the streets of Compiègne. This high school student of John Paul II was selected by the association of Companions of Jehanne, chaired by Françoise Vandendriessche and her daughter Elisabeth.

The medieval market is in full swing for two days.

medieval market during the two days, Saturday May 20 from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday May 21 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Educational workshops: stained glass, stone cutting, calligraphy, illuminations, painting with pigments on wood, hunting (demonstration of slingshot, crossbow and bow shooting), making old musical instruments, music area medieval.

Saturday May 20. 4 p.m.: tribute to the commemorative plaque of Maurice Vandendriessche, former president and founder of the Compagnons de Jeanne association. 9:30 p.m.: musical introduction. 10 p.m.: great fantastic night show entitled Dragon, the kingdom of Archal. 11 p.m.: arrival of Jeanne and welcome by the mayor Philippe Marini and elected officials. Sunday May 21. 10 a.m.: solemn mass in the presence of all the costumed and Johannine towns. 11:30 am: departure of the official procession. 11:45 a.m.: wreath laying at the statue of Joan of Arc on the Town Hall Square. 12:15 p.m.: inauguration of the medieval market, reception at Songeons park. 4 p.m.: presentation of the pieces of Jehanne’s armor and reception of the children. 5 p.m.: departure from the Parc Songeons of the great historical parade through the medieval market and the streets of Compiègne. 5.30 p.m.: “Farewell to Jehanne” at the Saint-Louis bridge by the bagpipes of Verberie. 5:45 p.m.: wreath laying at the equestrian statue. 6:30 p.m.: presentation on the central lawn of the Songeons park, in the presence of Jehanne, the elected officials of Compiègne in costume and the Companions of Jehanne of the Johannine towns present, companies, associations, animators, volunteers…
