For the 2024/2025 season, there will be a structure change in the Bonds Liga that will affect all associations/teams in the Bonds Liga. Next season there will be a number of changes in the Eredivisie.

Changes Eredivisie season 2023/2024
The Eredivisie will consist of 8 teams next season. Hoornse BV and AMOR have withdrawn from the Eredivisie.

After consultation with the Eredivisie associations, it has been decided to play an entire competition in the Eredivisie next season. The number 1 qualifies directly for the final. The numbers 2 and 3 play in the semi-final play-off for the last ticket for the final.

The number 8 plays a decision match against the highest ranked standard team in the 1st division.

Structural changes in the 2024/2025 season
After a long and intensive ‘Quality Impulse Eredivisie’ process, it has been decided to change the competition structure as follows from the 2024/2025 season:
Premier League, 8 teams. A whole competition will be played, with a final for the national championship between the number 1 and 2.
– 1st division, 2 divisions, consisting of 8 instead of the current 10 teams.
a. 1 division with only standard teams
b. 1 division with only 2nd teams.

The rationale behind this choice is:
– A stronger Premier and 1st division by reducing the divisions to 8 teams.
– Due to a 1st division with standard teams, a healthy ‘mandatory’ Promotion/Relegation between the Premier and 1st division takes place.
– More associations/teams that will participate in the top of the competition pyramid.

A working group is being set up to support the associations with standard teams that will play in the 1st division in making the transition to the Eredivisie smaller.

Consequences for Promotion/Relegation scheme 2023/2024
The above structure change has consequences for the Promotion/Relegation scheme for the coming season 2023/2024. Because reinforced relegation of 4 teams from the 1st division will take place, this will also have one-off consequences for all divisions below. The Promotion/Relegation Scheme 2023/2024 will be developed on the basis of the above changes. The Promotion/Relegation Regulations 2023/2024 will be published no later than 1 July.

Impulse Eredivisie
The impulse of the Eredivisie includes more than just the above changes, but these changes contribute to the direction we want to go in the long term, a strong and professional Eredivisie with a healthy promotion/relegation between the Eredivisie and the division below it. A working group is currently also working to approach the Eredivisie matches as an event, so that badminton is promoted more broadly in addition to the Eredivisie itself. In the past 1 to 2 years, for example, all Eredivisie associations have started live streaming Eredivisie matches, so that these matches are visible to a wider audience.
