Challenger, Roland Garros > Beaten in the final, Benoît Paire awaits his wild card firmly

Benoît Paire was playing big this week in Italy, on the Francavilla Challenger.

And the Habs succeeded in their bet after reaching the final of the tournament, which enabled them to take Hugo Gaston’s place in the Race classification, a place synonymous with direct qualification for the main draw at Roland-Garros thanks to the invitation given by the FFT. Except that the announcement of this was brought forward by a week (May 8 instead of 15) without any valid reason and that it was granted to… Hugo Gaston.

Obviously in disagreement with this decision, especially since his career in Italy proved him right, the Avignonnais, beaten in the final this Sunday by the Chilean Tabilo (6-1, 7-5), did not want to add to it while he would be negotiating with the FFT to finally get what should be his.

While waiting to know the outcome of this story which should be, barring a huge surprise, positive for the current 160^e world, the latter will be opposed to Dominic Thiem for his very first match on the Bordeaux Challenger which will start tomorrow (Monday). A nice test for Benoît.
