Opladen/Göttingen – In the third and decisive semi-final playoff, the Medical Instinct Veilchen BG 74 Göttingen won 53:39 (25:129) at the BBZ Opladen Hawks in front of a total of only 199 spectators at the Werner-Heisenberg-Gymnasium in Leverkusen-Opladen and created it with it the promotion and the return to the women’s basketball league after only one year.

At the same time there’s a big fuss. Veilchen Ladies managing director Richard Crowder revealed that he has not applied for a premier league license due to financial reasons. The economic possibilities are too difficult.
After the second win in the best-of-3 series, however, he has apparently become fickle and is now considering exercising the sporting right to advance as one of the two semi-final winners together with the Hurricanes Rotenburg. “The girls simply deserve it,” he says, still overwhelmed by the victory in Opladen. Among other things, DBBL boss Andreas Wagner was in Opladen, who told Crowder to call him in the next few days. Every club is needed in the premier league, as last season ended with only ten teams following the bankruptcy of the Rheinland Lions. Crowder: “I’ll have to make a lot of phone calls in the next few days.” In order to be able to return to the 1st division after just one year with the appropriate economic support.
The third semifinal

As in the 68:51 in the FKG hall, the Veilchen Ladies act with a strong defense, hold Opladen, who otherwise scored around 70 points on average, with just 39 points.
On Sunday, the “pro forma final” of the 2nd league will take place with the Hurricanes in Rotenburg/Scheeßel.
