Brian Flores has a new vision for Vikings defense

Brian Flores is the current defensive coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings.

In his first few months in charge of the Vikings defense, he explained to his players the identity he wanted the defensive team to have.

“I think building an identity is a big part of defensive play,” Flores said. “I try to pass that on to our players. This happens over time. Every time we step onto the pitch, it’s: What is our identity? What are people going to say about us? What do we want it to look like? » .

Brian Flores also said he wanted an aggressive but above all not reckless defense. The Vikings’ new defensive coordinator says he liked what he saw during the team’s activities during the off season.

He admits all the same to having difficulty distinguishing what type of identity the Vikings play because for the moment, they are training without contacts.

“It’s hard to do that in this context because a lot of the game is physical,” Flores said. “We kind of make predictions based on what we’ve seen. That’s also part of it. We have to plan. Final decisions on what we are going to be will be made later.”

Even though Brian Flores held many defensive assistant positions as well as head coach of the Miami Dolphins from 2019 to 2021. Brian Flores still won four Super Bowls with the New England Patriots during his career.

However, this season, with Minnesota, will be his very first year as a defensive coordinator. He will therefore establish his own identity as a coordinator just like his defense which will also establish its own identity.
