Big Bill from Coaticook: a transaction sends Fromental Houle to St-Jean

BASEBALL. The Big Bill of Coaticook and the Pirates of St-Jean decided to shuffle the cards a few days before the start of the season in the Major League Baseball of Quebec (LBMQ).

The two teams have indeed made a major transaction, which will send hitter and infielder Gabriel Fromental Houle as well as infielder Jérémie Chalifour to St-Jean. The Pirates will also receive a third-round pick in the league’s 2024 draft.

In return, the Big Bill will welcome two-year player Jordan Glazer, infielder Joey Mainville and a first-round pick in the 2023 draft.

Fromental Houle, a crowd favorite in Coaticook, hit four homers and had 15 RBIs last season. He had a .295 batting average. For his part Jérémie Chalifour will return to St-Jean, he who played with this team in 2016 and 2017.

Glazer, a 2022 rookie, hit eight homers in the regular season and playoffs. Joey Mainville, meanwhile, will be in his fourth season with the LBMQ.

As a reminder, the Big Bill will play its first game of the season on May 20. He will then visit the Sherbrooke Expos.
