Tennis professional Matteo Berrettini has canceled his participation in the French Open (May 22 to June 11).
“I won’t be ready for Paris in time,” the 27-year-old Italian wrote on Instagram on Saturday.
The former Wimbledon finalist has been suffering from an abdominal muscle injury since the Masters in Monte Carlo in April.
Berrettini announced that he would not return to the tour until the grass tournament in Stuttgart (June 12) in order to defend his title from the previous year.
