Beja Cup 2023: More than a thousand footballers celebrate youth football.

The Plaza de Armas of Castelo de Beja, was the stage for the presentation of the VIII edition of the Beja Cup 2023, whose godfather is Francisco Agatão, former player of the club and who wore the jersey of Boavista Futebol Clube, a tournament that will take place on the days 10 and 11 and 17 and 18 June, involving more than a thousand young footballers.

The competition organized by the Sports Club of Beja (CDBeja), will feature the natural lawn and the two synthetic lawns of the Fernando Mamede Sports Complexand Beja, and the synthetic turf of Penedo Gordo, village located five kilometers from the county seat. The competition will be run by a group of 20 arbitrators from the Arbitration Council of Beja and also from Inatel.

The Beja Cup will have competitions in the men’s sub7 levels, Sub9, Under 10, Sub11, U13 and U14 and in the U16 women’sinvolving 74 teams 34 clubs in a total of 1100 athletes, from different parts of the country. In addition to the footballers, the organization revealed that Beja will receive over the four days of competition more than 3000 people.

The tournament has a budget of 120.000 euros, counting CDBeja with the logistical support of the Infantry Regiment 1 to accommodate participants in the Beja Cup 2023.

On 16 June, a partir the 18,00 hours, and integrated into the celebrations of 107 years old, the game of Velhas Guardas takes place between Clube Desportivo de Beja and Sporting Clube de Portugal. Although founded in September 1947, the club was “born” from Luso, Union and Pax-Julia, three city emblems, having been considered in terms of statutes that “the date of foundation of the Clube Desportivo de Bejaa 16 June 1916”, for being the date of creation of Luso Sporting Clube.

Francisco Agatho, considered that in addition to the competition, the Beja Cup serves to “show that the social role of the club goes beyond football within the four lines”, assuring that “we will do everything for the tournament to dignify the city, the municipality and the community”finished.

Beja City Council stands alongside Desportivo de Beja in supporting the competition, with the mayor referring that the initiative “has a very important dimension for the region, given the strong impact it has on the economy of the city and county”. It is a great opportunity for the promotion of the territory”concluded.

“Having a tournament in June, in the face of scorching weather conditions it takes courage and great organization. In these things there is no luck, there is work and merit”concluded Paulo Arsenio.

In the days 10 and 11 of june games the Sub7 competitions, Sub9, Sub11 and Sub14 male and day 17 and 18 U10 and U13 men’s and U16 women’s matches.
