Disc jockey Marek Bárta became the winner of the 23rd Ludvík Daňek Memorial. Shot putter Tomáš Staněk graced the meeting with a performance of 21.71. Distance runner Radek Juška claimed his sixth triumph in Turnov.

The Ludvík Daňek Memorial received a Czech winner for only the second time in its twenty-three-year history. This year, Marek Bárta continued the former primacy of Libor Malina, whose maximum at this meeting up to that time was second place from last year. It must be added that Marek won completely deservedly. He would win with each of his four measured attempts, which flew for sixty meters. The longest measured 61.84. The second South African, Victor Hogan, also broke the 60 mark, by just one centimeter. Briton Nicholas Percy (59.49) took the bronze, who got ahead of Michal Forejt (59.04) in the final series.

Tomáš Staněk loves the tournament. That is also why he chose the Ludvík Daňek Memorial for his first start under the open sky. With the first attempt, he secured a litter on 21.10. In the third series, he pushed significantly to 21.62 and saved his best for the very end, when his ball landed at 21.71, which was only three centimeters behind this year’s best European performance by Italian Zan Weir.

If someone is doing exceptionally well in Turnov, it is the Czech long-distance record holder Radek Juška. He had to deal with unpleasant gusts of wind during the competition, but even so he secured his sixth triumph at this meeting. The furthest he flew was the sixth attempt. His winning jump measured 788 centimeters. His closest rival in the results list was the Jamaican Aubrey Allen at 768 centimeters. Barbora Hůlková won the long distance competition with a jump of 606 centimeters.

Very fast times were offered in the men’s 100 final. However, the wind was too strong at +3.5 m/s. Jamaican Oshane Bailey was the fastest in 10.16. Just behind him were Jan Veleba (10.19) and Zdeněk Stromšík (10.20). The women who had two meters of air blown into their backs were a little more lucky. Natálie Kožuškaničová used this to further improve her personal record to 11.48. Only the Jamaican Jura Levy (11.43) was above her strength.

Tereza Elena Šínová shined in the 100 hurdles with a great figure 13.14. The representative of Athletics Jižní Město improved her career high by eleven hundredths and moved to fifth place in the Czech history tables. At the same time, she also met the nomination requirements to start at the U23 European Championship in Finland and at the Universiade in China. The second Ukrainian, Nataliia Yurchuk, also improved her personal statistics (13.24). Nicoleta Turnerová was third in 13.43.

The men’s 300m relay was the expected battle of the members of our national team’s 4x400m relay team. Matěj Krsek came out the best thanks to the new personal best of 32.89 ahead of Pavle Maslák (33.06) and Michal Desenský (33.23). However, neither of them was happy about the overall first place. That was taken by the winner of the second run, Adam Lukomski from Poland in 32.79. In the same women’s discipline, it looked like a fight between Tereza Petržilková and Nikola Bendová for a long time. Thanks to an excellent finish, Barbora Šplechtnová entered it and it was she who crossed the finish line first in a personal best of 37.44. Petržilková was only a hundredth slower (37.45). Bendová was third in 37.63. In the second run, Terezie Táborská shone, who, thanks to a time of 38.01, became the second fastest teenager in history on this track.

The very good work of driver Jakub Zajíček was used by our half-cars to set fast times. The winner Jakub Davidík met the limit for the start at the under-23 European Championship with a time of 1:47.55. The second Jan Tesař ran a great personal record of 1:47.72. Jakub Dudycha also set a career high, who with a time of 1:48.08 moved to seventh place in the national historical tables among juniors. Daniel Kotyza (1:48.59) and Jiří Pavel Česka also lowered their times below 1:49, who, thanks to a personal best of 1:48.88, met the nomination requirements for the MEJ in Jerusalem. In the women’s 800 meter race, Kristiina Mäki confirmed her role as the favorite (2:05.28) ahead of Lenka Čechová (2:05.72).

Limits for youth continental peaks were also seen in the 4×100 meter relays. In the under-23 category, the quartet of Kvasničková, Kožuškaničová, Šplechtnová and Sobotková qualified with a time of 44.67. The line-up of juniors Tkáčová, Táborská, Elfmarková and Parohová met the nomination requirements for Jerusalem thanks to a performance of 45.27.

Martin Florian reigned supreme in the javelin sector with a new career high of 75.25.
