Barcelona won the Spanish men’s soccer championship

Thanks to the 4-2 victory against Espanyol, the Barcelona men’s team mathematically won La Liga, the top flight of Spanish football, on Sunday evening. In fact, Barcelona have 85 points with four games left (with a total of 12 points up for grabs) at the end of the championship, and can no longer be reached by Real Madrid, second on 71 points. The match against Espanyol was not in discussion: at the end of the first half Barcelona were ahead 3-0 with goals from Lewandowski (brace) and Balde, and in the 53rd minute they even went 4-0 up with a goal from Koundé. Puado and Joselu scored instead for Espanyol, but by then the match was already largely compromised.

For Barcelona it is the 27th Liga in its history, four years after the last one won in 2019.
