At points gala: NBA star hits club owner with his elbow

Superstar Nikola Jokic dominated with 53 points, but led by the congenial duo Devin Booker and Kevin Durant, the Phoenix Suns forced the equalizer to 2-2 in the play-off quarterfinals of the North American professional basketball league NBA. The Suns won the fourth game of the series against the Denver Nuggets 129-124, with Booker and Durant each having 36 points.

Jokic eclipsed the pair to pick up the most points in a play-off game, but the Serb also took center stage in a much-discussed scene. Late in the second quarter, he elbowed Suns owner Mat Ishbia, who was watching the game in the crowd, for a technical foul.

“The fan touched me first,” said Jokic: “I thought the league wanted to protect us. Maybe I’m wrong too. I know who he is – but at the end of the day he’s a fan, isn’t he?”

James Harden with 42 points against Boston

The Philadelphia 76ers also reported back in their series. James Harden with 42 points and MVP Joel Embiid with 34 points led the 76ers to 116:115 after overtime against the Boston Celtics and thus to a 2:2 in the series. Four successes are necessary to advance to the next round. (sid/dv)
