Due to a foot injury, Andras Schäfer missed a total of 17 Ironman games between January and April – an operation on his foot had already prevented him from playing towards the end of the previous year. After a break of several months, the 24-year-old celebrated his comeback in the starting XI last weekend after two joker appearances against Freiburg (4: 2), but his team is now missing again.

Schäfer continues with bad luck with injuries

In a press release, the Berliners announced on Wednesday afternoon that the Hungarian international will not be available to the current fourth-placed side in the last two games of the season. As the Köpenickers announced, Schäfer suffered a “setback” after the home game against SCF, which forced him to take another break.

This means that the central midfielder, who has made 24 Bundesliga appearances for Köpenick since his move at the beginning of last year, is missing for his team in the final sprint for a place in the Champions League. Next Saturday, the Irons will meet Hoffenheim away (3.30 p.m.), at the end of the season Werder Bremen will then visit the Alte Försterei (May 27, 3.30 p.m.).
