46 works won special prizes at the Taipei Science Exhibition | Science Exhibition | Awards | Railway

[The Epoch Times, May 07, 2023](Reported by Epoch Times reporter Lin Zixin, Taipei, Taiwan) The 56th Taipei Science Fair for Primary and Secondary Schools held an awards ceremony a few days ago. This year, a total of 591 applications were submitted, and 1,620 students participated. The selection results There are a total of 234 pieces, including 46 excellent works, 61 excellent works, and 127 excellent works. The excellent works of the high school group will use algorithms and simulators to arrange the timetable of passenger trains and railways, hoping to effectively improve the efficiency of the journey. The works that win the best will represent Beishi to compete in the national science and technology exhibition.

The Taipei City Bureau of Education explained on the 7th that this science exhibition is divided into three groups: elementary school, junior high school, and senior high school. The works are divided into mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, earth science, life and applied science, computer and Informatics, environmental studies, behavioral and social sciences and other 12 categories. The 46 groups of students who won special awards will represent Beishi to participate in the 63rd National Primary and Secondary Science Fair.

Wu Yalun, a student of Jianguo High School, made the work “Using Meta-heuristic Optimization Algorithm to Arrange Railway Timetable Points”, researching the use of heuristic optimization algorithms and simulators to arrange passenger train railway timetable points, hoping to find out , A timetable that improves the success rate of passenger transport and reduces travel time. Wu Yalun said that this is the first time he has won an award in a large-scale competition, and he is very happy to be able to advance to the National Science and Technology Exhibition. He has learned a lot and gained a lot of experience along the way.

Students Huang Liangkai, Hu Yuyi, and Zhang Chaojin from Lanya Junior High School won the special honor for the work of “Designing Wind Tunnel to Output Steady Flow Field to Analyze the Stability of Shuttlecock in Wind Tunnel”. This research is using new measurement methods (fluid mechanics) to design wind tunnels Measuring the stability of the shuttlecock, designing this complete experiment through the actual visits to the manufacturing process of the shuttlecock from different manufacturers, and simulating the best steady-state flow field, so that the shuttlecock has better stability in the air. ◇
