Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Bagas Maulana advanced to the finals of the badminton tournament Orleans Masters 2023 after defeating Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin, Sunday (9/4) early morning Indonesian time.
Leo/Daniel took a 4-0 lead at the start of the first game. Fikri/Bagas tried to respond and were able to gain points, but Leo/Daniel continued to add points so that an exciting duel ensued.
After Fikri/Bagas won the third point and fell behind 3-6, Leo/Daniel stepped on the gas again. Leo/Daniel scored four consecutive points. Then Leo/Daniel won 11-4 in the first game interval.
Leo/Daniel then moved away from Fikri/Bagas after the interval. Score became 14-6 and 16-8. Fikri/Bagas recorded three consecutive points, but Leo/Daniel’s steps did not stop. Leo/Daniel’s 21-13 victory marked the end of the first game.
Unlike the first game, the start of the second game was marked by the tough duel of Leo/Daniel vs Fikri/Bagas. Fikri/Bagas tried to make up for the defeat in the first game, who led at 3-1 and 7-4.
Leo/Daniel had leveled the score at 7-7, but Fikri/Bagas were able to move away again and lead 11-8 at halftime.
The meeting distance between the two pairs of PBSI Cipayung national training continues to occur. The two exchanged points. Leo/Daniel several times managed to put one point apart, but Fikri/Bagas were able to maintain their position.
Until then the numbers are equivalent to 16-16 and 17-17. Fikri/Bagas were left behind 17-18. Two consecutive points put them back ahead. Fikri/Bagas also won 21-18 in the second game.
Fikri/Bagas again made a good start in the deciding game. The world’s 15th ranked pair then managed to maintain their advantage from the start of the third game until the interval at 11-7.
The score then became tight as Leo/Daniel’s ability to equalize to 14-14. Since then, the score has remained even at 17-17.
Fikri/Bagas then managed to win three consecutive points and lead 20-17. The third seeded men’s doubles at the 2023 Orleans Masters failed to maximize three opportunities to finish the match.
Leo/Daniel could equalize 20-20 and even turn 21-20 ahead. Fikri/Bagas were able to bring the score back to a draw and then won two consecutive points which made them win 23-21.
In the final match Fikri/Bagas will face the Chinese pair Chen Bo Yang/Liu Yi.
