White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson to miss two to four weeks of play

MINNEAPOLIS — Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson will miss two to four weeks with a sprained left knee.

The team made the announcement Tuesday, a day after Anderson suffered his injury against the Minnesota Twins after contact with Matt Wallner.

The White Sox have recalled AAA infielder Lenyn Sosa from Charlotte.

Anderson moved to third base in an attempt to convert a double play in the fourth inning, when third baseman Hanser Alberto hesitated and eventually threw the ball to second base.

Elvis Andrus then threw the ball to Anderson in an attempt to pin Wallner, who slipped through the White Sox player’s legs.

The 29-year-old Anderson batted .298 with five doubles, four RBIs, five stolen bases and nine runs scored in 11 games this season.

Sosa entered the 2023 season as the eighth-best prospect in the White Sox organization, according to the Major League Baseball website. He has played 11 games in the Majors in 2022.
