Vyškov ends with honor! We started on a green field, Komínek knows. And Znojmo? It is bounced | Hokej.cz

Tomáš Komínek scored five goals and eight assists in the second league season, thus making a significant contribution to Vyško’s progress to the semi-finals. But the fairy tale of the league rookie ended there. How does Tomáš Komínek evaluate the series with Letňany? And what makes the second league challenging and what do you plan to do after the end of the season?

How would you rate the last game of the series?
We started the match very well, we quickly took a 1:0 lead. Unfortunately for us, we subsequently conceded a goal, after which the opponent got up. I think that the shot motivated the Praguers for the rest of the game.

Do you think that the quick first goal put you to sleep?
Possible. We subconsciously pulled back and had the feeling that we could defend a one-goal result the whole game, which is simply absolutely unacceptable in the third minute of the game. We should have tried to keep playing, but Letňany made it very difficult for us, they played hard and went all out in every fight.

With the equalizing goal at 1:1, the people of Prague managed to take advantage of the power play.
Although we received the goal at a numerical disadvantage, on the other hand, it was not an outright power play goal that would have taken us apart. We distributed the players badly and then the home team tied at 1:1.

“The game started to break down in the second period, again we made a few mistakes there.”

What do you see as the turning point in the match?
The game started to break down in the second period, again we made a few mistakes there, which led to another foul and another used power play by the opponent. After this goal, we stopped playing for a while and quickly conceded the fourth goal as well. In the third period, we had optical superiority on the puck, but the Praguers only controlled the game and played in such a way as not to score a goal.

The second 20-minute game was very unlucky from your point of view. Did fatigue start to set in in game five?
On the one hand, fatigue began to show on our side, as it was a really difficult and balanced series, on the other hand, the opponent got into a great style, which he followed up with three more goals after the first goal scored. I don’t think the opponent would have outplayed us, nor did we play significantly worse. It was a sequence of events.

Was the series in Letňany something specific?
In the 2nd league, during the time I’ve been playing here, these were some of the best, most balanced and most exciting matches. If I don’t count this year’s matches with Znojmo, which is completely removed from this league, Letňany were clearly the toughest opponent we faced this year.

Could you have been surprised by anything else in the fifth match with the opponent?
I think both teams got to know each other very well in those four games and although I don’t like the word, I think it’s also more about luck and chance.

Vyškov is a semi-professional team. How did you manage all that, on top of a very busy knockout schedule?
It is very demanding. This competition was played every Wednesday and Saturday throughout the season with a break at Christmas. Now that the playoffs have started, we’ve played every other day or two games in two days.

“If I don’t count this year’s matches with Znojmo, which is completely removed from this league, Letňany were clearly the toughest opponent.”

How would you rate this season regardless of this semi-final failure?
I would evaluate the whole year positively, it was a completely new team based “on a green field” and there were a lot of young players. The only matador here is Tomáš Žižka, the second oldest is me, otherwise it’s basically a group of young guys who are just starting their hockey careers.

What awaits you now after the end of the season?
Now I’m looking forward to going home to rest. (Laughs) There’s been a lot going on in the last month, so I’m going to focus on my wife and daughter, which I haven’t had as much time for as I’d like. We’ll take a trip together and then we’ll see what happens next.
