The finishing of the Velodrome in Heusden-Zolder is entering a new phase. At the moment the construction of the wooden cycling track is completely finished. Only the lighting still needs to be done.
In a video by contractor Vanhout-Houben you can see how beautiful the track is already. According to Veronique Houben of Houben construction company in Houthalen-Helchteren, now only the detailed finishing of the velodrome itself follows.
“We are proud that everything has gone according to plan so far,” says Houben. “The wooden construction is ready. We are currently working on the markings on the cycling track. The sports floor of the central square will be poured this week. The rest of the building, such as the catering area and the meeting rooms, is in the finishing phase. The exterior construction has also started. We are well on schedule.”
The opening of the Velodrome is scheduled for the weekend of September 2. (zb)
