Although the end of the “tail” is still left for the NHL regular season, almost everything is clear in the context of the teams represented by Latvians. The Columbus “Blue Jackets” have not even mathematically claimed a place in the Stanley Cup for a long time, at the beginning of this week the Buffalo “Sabres” were officially eliminated for the 12th season in a row, but the opposite story can be observed regarding the Vegas “Golden Knights” – below second place in the Western Conference is no longer possible.

In this podcast we also looked back at our predictions, in the broadcast before the start of the seasons of both leagues we made predictions and concluded that “something is already brewing on the other side of the ocean”.

Now, looking back at the seasons of the Latvian players, it remains to conclude that nothing too positive has matured.

In the first part of the podcast, we talked about the productive performance of Kristaps Porzingis, which was suppressed by the “Wizards” weak record this season. We also discussed the hottest question of the moment in the context of Porzingis and “Wizards” – should Kristaps stay in Washington?

In the continuation, we focused on another Latvian basketball player of the NBA, Dāvis Bertāns. Here, we talked more about the failures of Dāvja’s team Dallas “Mavericks”, because the Latvian basketball player could not boast of too high numbers in the minutes played box this season.

Of course, there was also a transfer of Latvian hockey players’ achievements to the NHL. First, we discussed what Rudolph Balzer should do, who spent this season in two different NHL teams, but is currently “gnawing the ice” in the AHL. We also talked about the disastrous season of the Columbus “Blue Jackets” represented by Elvjas Merzlikin and the future of the Latvian goalkeeper in this team.

In the end, we touched on the positive or convincing performance of Artūrs Shilov in the first five games of his NHL career and his further chances to establish himself at the highest level of hockey. We also discussed how logical or surprising was the exchange of Theodor Blüger to the powerful Vegas “Golden Knights”.
