Van der Vaart is surprised immediately after Napoli

Immediately after Napoli – AC Milan (1-1), Rafael van der Vaart was surprised at referee Szymon Marciniak. The Pole added four minutes of injury time, but added nothing extra when Napoli managed to score in those four minutes. This leads to misunderstanding at Van der Vaart. “Those referees dude, they have no feeling at all,” he says Ziggo Sport.

Presenter Wytse van der Goot asks Van der Vaart if he finds it a surprise that Milan has passed the billion dollar ball at the expense of Napoli. The latter, however, barely answers that question and points directly to the four minutes of injury time. “Yes, if you play all season… Four minutes are added…”, the former midfielder does not hide his surprise. “You were getting excited,” Van der Goot replies. “You too?”, asks Van der Vaart, who then expands his answer. “Four minutes are added, a goal is scored, it takes a while…”

“Injury here and there, and then after four minutes and one second you immediately whistle,” continues Van der Vaart in surprise. Van der Goot then asks why Marciniak would do that. “I don’t know much,” replies Van der Vaart. “Those are the referees, dude. They have no feeling at all… Every now and then you see that nine minutes are added, that you think: where did they get it from? Sometimes rightly so, sometimes not. Now four minutes. Then think je: fine, it was. But then let play continue for another minute,” Van der Vaart concludes his argument about the referee. By the way, Marciniak whistled after three minutes and 59 seconds.

The former Orange international thought for a long time that Napoli would recover the 0-1 deficit. However, it didn’t come to that.
