Valentijn Driessen after Ajax – Fortuna: ‘He really does not perform a single stitch’

Valentijn Driessen was surprised by Fortuna Sittard’s game in the away match against Ajax. The Limburgers (and in particular Burak Yilmaz) made little impression on the journalist.

Ajax had no problem with Fortuna Sittard on Sunday and won 4-0. “What Fortuna was planning in the ArenA? I don’t know. When I look at Fortuna, I think: how the hell is it possible that they have scored so many points and played themselves safe,” said Driessen in a video item from The Telegraph.

According to Driessen, Fortuna’s game was ‘nothing like’. “And they play almost every game with ten men because Burak Yilmaz really doesn’t make a single sting. Not even when he gets the ball, because then he ends up way too far from the opponent’s goal. What Fortuna showed seemed in the far from normal football.”

Nevertheless, Julio Velázquez’s team got a few opportunities in Amsterdam. “Ajax can blame itself for that. I didn’t think Ajax was great, but of course they had the match against Feyenoord in their legs with the necessary commotion after everything that happened in recent days. They just went for the win and that’s it.”

John Heitinga seized the match against Fortuna to let Silvano Vos and Mika Godts make their debuts, while Jorrel Hato played the entire second half. “He chooses Youri Baas as left back, but when I see Hato play, I would say: why not Hato? Yes, he is young, but if you are good enough, you are old enough.”
