This weekend the Spanish Junior Judo Championship was held in Arganda del Rey (Madrid) in which the Valencian Federation won thanks to the 14 medals obtained. Five Spanish champions, two runners-up and seven bronze medals allowed the Valencian Community to lead the final medal table.
The Príncipe Felipe pavilion in Arganda del Rey, Madrid, witnessed a new success for Valencian judo. The Spanish Championship in the junior category certified the formidable present that the Valencian Community is going through, thus leading the medal table of the national competition, reaching 14 medals.
The Valencian delegation reaped a total of five gold medals, two silver and seven bronze, in addition to 6 fifth places, being the regional federation that has had the most champions and medals in the championship.
In the men’s category, Luis Barroso (-60 kg), Ribin Stanislav (-73 kg) and Davit Kevlishvili (+100 kg) were proclaimed champions of Spain, thus closing the national competition in the best way. Barroso, recently champion of the European Cup in Coimbra, beat Galician Alejandro Moral in the final to win gold, while Stanislav beat his teammate from the Valencian federation, Carlos Fernández Bou, who won the silver medal. Kevlishvili was champion after beating Nikita Matveiev, from the Catalan federation.
The men’s medal table was completed by Kindi Ba (-81 kg), Jorge Catalá and Luis Sedano (-66 kg) with three bronze medals.
In the women’s draw, Adriana Rodríguez Salvador (-57 kg) and Aitana Fernández Herrera (-63 kg) were proclaimed champions of Spain. Rodríguez defeated Deniba Sissoko Konare, from the Basque federation, in the final while Fernández beat Ana Carazo from Madrid.
For their part, Aitana Díaz Hernández and Joane Buldain Elizalde achieved second and third place, respectively in the -48 kg category while Irene Castano (-63 kg), Marta Solbes (-70 kg) and Aitana Sana (-78 kg) They each won bronze medals.
