Captain Marco Reus will stay with Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund for at least another year. The 33-year-old international has extended his contract with the Bundesliga club, which expires at the end of this season, until 2024. BVB announced this on Thursday.

Salary loss accepted

Dortmund did not provide any further information on the content of the contract. According to media reports, with the new working paper, Reus should only collect seven instead of around twelve million euros as a fixed salary. Reus was recently no longer an untouchable regular player at BVB.

Reus, born in Dortmund, played for Borussia when he was young and returned to the club from Mönchengladbach in 2012. His greatest successes so far have been the DFB Cup victories in 2017 and 2021.
