Both teams of the women’s football club “Olaine” started the new season with victories over the weekend, winning the first matches of both the Women’s Football League and the Women’s 1st League tournament – respectively over the Ķekava football club “Auda” and the football club “Sigulda”. The results of Pierīga’s men’s clubs were modest at the weekend – only the football players of “Olaines” celebrated the victory.
The main team of FC “Olaine” took the lead in Ķekava against “Auda” in the 15th minute, when Petra Postaža scored the ball into the home team’s goal, but in the 32nd minute, Anžela Lebedeva doubled the lead – the game ended 2-0. Eight teams are participating in the women’s league this year, which will play a three-round tournament.
There are 11 teams represented in the 1st Women’s Football League, and in the first round match in Olaine, FC “Olaine-2” football players scored three goals in each half and convincingly defeated the football club “Sigulda” 6:0, and also missed a penalty kick. Laura Kallase stood out with a hat trick, Valērija Širin scored two goals, Anete Stepiņa scored one.
In the third round of the Latvian football first or future league tournament, the team of the United football academy “Olaine” met the football club “Smiltene” at home on Sunday and celebrated a 4-0 victory. In the first half, Ričards Kauliņš and Edgars Brics scored for the hosts, while in the second half, which the guests played with a numerical minority, Marks Pechepko and again Brics. In the tournament table, after three rounds, the Olainians are in sixth place in the competition of 14 teams.
All three Pieriga clubs playing in the second league of Latvia experienced losses during the holidays. In the match of the second round, the closest to the point were the players of FK “Ķekava/Auda”, who lost 0:1 to the Liepāja club “Karosta” at home, moreover, they lost the only goal already in the third minute of compensation time.
The team of Mārupe sports center met with the football club “PPK/Betsafe” and lost in the 9th minute. At the end of the first half, Kārlis Neimanis equalized, but after the break, the home team scored two more goals and caused Marupians a 1:3 loss.
It was even worse for the “Salaspils” football club, which lost only 0:2 after the first half in the home game against the Jēkabpils sports center team, but in the end experienced defeat 0:7.
On Monday, the games of the eighth round of the Latvian Super League will be played by both clubs from the regions of Pierīgas – FK “Auda” will meet the football club “Tukums 2000″/”Telms” in Mežapark, while the sports club “Super Nova”/Salaspils will visit RFS football players.
