Three spectators of the Croatian WRC rally end up in jail (+video) – Motor sports – Sportacentrs.com

We already reported that the rally could have ended tragically for several spectators who got involved in a conflict situation during the Croatian WRC. As can be seen in the video, a conflict broke out between several spectators, as a result of which several people soon ended up on the track to continue solving their problems. After one of the judges whistled intensively, warning that a rally car was approaching, and the spectators shouted for the culprits to clear the track, fortunately, the spectators left the track, where after a few seconds, the “Toyota GR Yaris Rally1” car flew away at high speed .

According to the portal Dirtfish, three men were arrested for seven days for attacking a policeman. The incident started when a drink was spilled in the crowd. One fan then threw an object at another fan, leading to an incident that was filmed and shared on social media. Referees and a Croatian police officer quickly intervened, pushing the men back into the crowd.

The chairman of the organizer, Daniel Shashkin, revealed that “It was a crazy situation. Fortunately, we had a lot of judges in those places. What you don’t see from the video is that we had several judges on the other side of the springboard who were ready to stop the car.’ ‘

“This is certainly no excuse for this behavior and what happened. It will never be tolerated and sending these people to prison is a powerful message to the fans who come to our country to watch the rallies.”

Shashkin admitted that this incident has upset him and his team.

“We had over 400,000 fans at our rally last week. It’s sad that these three idiots, completely stupid idiots, did what they did. You look at 99.9% of the other fans and they were fantastic. Come on and look with me at the stages where you’ll see they cleaned up all their rubbish, they were so well behaved. As always, it’s a very small minority that can spoil everything for everyone else.”

“As I said, we will not allow this. Right now I want to say thank you to the 2,000 judges who worked so hard during our rally to make sure everything was in order.”

As previously reported by a twitter user, each of these three men was sentenced to a fine of 760 euros, as well as an additional 20 euros for court costs. In addition, they are banned from attending this event next year and must report to the police station regularly.
