Thomas Sassi, what a victory! He is the new Italian U18 Champion

On Sunday 23rd April, the Final of the Italian A1 Judo Cadet Championships was held at the PalaFijlkam in Rome. On the tatami 261 athletes belonging to 131 sports clubs. Access to the final of the event was obtained with the position in the ranking list and placement (up to fifth place) in A2. At this juncture the young talent Piacenza Thomas Sassi, a member of the Judo Shiai Piacenza club, wins the title of U18 Judo Champion of Italy for the second time.

Thomas Sassi: glittering career

Thomas, just fifteen years old, has already climbed 4 times on the podium of Italy in Federal Judo, conquering so far two Italian Titles of Champion of Italy with two Gold Medals, a Silver Medal and a Bronze Medal. In addition to a bronze medal at a European Cup in 2023.

The title he just won confirms even more his last call-up in the U18 youth national team which will see him compete in the month of May in Coibra in Portugal.

In addition to Thomas, Francesca Trongone was also in the race, who narrowly missed out on the Bronze Medal. The fifth place obtained is one of the best results obtained by our Region in Italy.
