The victory of Dominic Thiem against Richard Gasquet in Monte Carlo marked an emotional day for the Austrian tennis player. With his sensitivity on the surface, the Austrian recalled his recent former coach, Nicolás Massú, at a press conference.
“All I want to hold in my mind with Nico is what an amazing four years we’ve had, what an amazing journey we’ve been on together.“Said the tennis player, after achieving his first victory in two years in a Masters 1000 tournament.
“Last week, in Estoril, there were already some positive signs, and today they have improved even more. Only after finishing is when I have realized all the success we had together, and that is what stays with me“, held.
Regarding Massú, Thiem respectfully noted that “Now it’s time to start a new chapter, both for me and for him. I tried to make the ending as good as possible.“.
