In the 23rd round of the third league there was an unusual result. Forte Taganrog took on the weakest FK Essentuki in its regional group. This team is last in the table and has collected only five points in 23 games.
However, such a high defeat may still be surprising, because Jessentuk’s previous losses usually ended with results like 0:5 or 0:3, and the fifth in the table Forte, when they won, it was by a difference of one or two goals.
The hosts started shooting in the second minute, and throughout the match as many as four players scored hat-tricks. The painful defeat by 15 goals infuriated the club’s authorities, who decided to take radical steps towards their players. As journalist Sergei Iliev informed on Telegram, the punishment for the players was the club’s deprivation of food and housing. One of the players has already decided to leave the team, and according to many sources, all activities of FK Jessentuki are to be ended soon.
This is not the first time that the club has been mentioned due to controversy. Last May, Jessentuki were punished by playing one match on neutral ground after a pitch battle between the players. The club was playing a match against SKA Rostov when one of Jessentuk’s players kicked a spade towards the rival fans, which led to a big brawl on the playing field. In November, a player from this team was suspended for two years for betting on results, and in March this year, three people from the board were removed from football activities for six months for playing for FK Jessentuk ineligible to play.
