Álex Baena after the complaint against Valverde: “There are lies that hurt more than blows”

Álex Baena, a Villarreal footballer, issued a statement on Monday through his official accounts on social networks in which he explained the reasons that led him to report Federico Valverde behind the alleged assault from this to the conclusion of the league duel that measured both teams last Saturday.
Beyond the fact itself, Baena justifies this decision by the reaction of the Uruguayan player’s environment: “After the event, some statements allegedly made by those around him came to light, in which it was said that he had wished the pain of a relative . Since then, and how could it be otherwise, no evidence has been published to prove the alleged facts. A misfortune was used to justify the aggression and there are lies that hurt more than blows.
The Spanish player also claims to have received “threats”, “insults” and messages wishing the death of his relatives: “The damage that is being done to my family is irreparable and unjustifiable; threats, insults and even private messages wishing my family death”.
“Yesterday I reported the case to the police. Let justice do its job. Now, my only goal is to focus on my profession and help my club meet its goals”, concludes the text.
