The USAL will host the disciplines of weightlifting, chess, judo and triathlon of the Spanish University Sports Championships

Some 5,500 university athletes from 75 universities will participate in the Spanish University Sports Championships that will be held over the next three months. A competition that will include 24 competitions from as many sports disciplines.

The Vice Chancellor for Students, Celia Aramburu, explained that the University of Salamanca will organize the university championships in the disciplines of weightlifting (April 21 and 22, in the Miguel de Unamuno Pavilion), chess (April 20, 21 and 22, in the Arzobispo Fonseca College), judo (May 12 and 13, in the Unamuno Pavilion) and triathlon (June 2 and 3, in Zamora).

In total, the USAL students will participate in 14 disciplines: cross country (held in Soria last March, in which they achieved an outstanding third place by team in the female category), tennis, climbing, athletics, fencing, basketball, swimming, badminton, paddle tennis and orienteering.

In addition to the University of Salamanca, the rest of the venues will be divided between the University of Valladolid, which will host 11 sports disciplines, two of them on the Segovia and Soria campuses; the universities of Burgos and León, which concentrate three each; two from IE University; and one Isabel I and the Pontifical.

1. CEU de Ajedrez (From April 19 to 22). Location: Archbishop Fonseca College.

– Wednesday, April 19: Accreditation of participants 6:00 p.m. -8:00 p.m. Technical Meeting: 8:00 p.m.

– Thursday, April 20, 1st Competition Day (Morning and Afternoon) 10:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. approx.

– Friday, April 21, 2nd Competition Day (Morning and Afternoon) 10:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. approx.

– Saturday April 22 3rd Competition Day 11.00-13.00 approx. Awards ceremony and closing. 2:00 p.m. approx.

2. Weightlifting CEU (From April 21 to 22). Location: Miguel de Unamuno Sports Pavilion.

– Friday, April 21: Accreditation and weigh-in of the participants from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Technical Meeting: 20.10h

– Saturday April 22: Competition Day 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. approx. Awards ceremony and closing.

3. CEU de Judo (From May 12 to 13). Location: Miguel de Unamuno Sports Pavilion.

– Friday, May 12: Accreditation and weigh-in of participants from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Technical Meeting: 20.10h

– Saturday May 13: Competition Day 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. approx. Awards ceremony and closing

4. Triathlon CEU (From June 2 to 3). Place: Campus Viriato University Sports Pavilion (Zamora)

– Friday: June 2: Accreditation (4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.) and Technical Meeting.

Competition place: Playa de los Pelambres (Zamora)

– Saturday: June 3. Departure female category: 2:00 p.m. Departure male category: 15.45 hours. Presentation of Trophies and closing of the Championship: 17.15 hours.
