A few hours ago, at the Córdoba Visitor Reception Center, the presentation ceremony of the Ciudad de Córdoba Tournament took place, which the Spanish Women’s Basketball Team will play between June 2 and 4 at the Vista Alegre Municipal Sports Palace of the Cordoba capital against the selections of Belgium and Turkey.
The act was attended by, representing the Córdoba City Council, its delegate councilor for Education, Childhood, Health and Consumption and Sports, as well as the president of IMDECO, Mr. Manuel Torrejimeno; and the Youth delegate, Dª Cinta Bustos. On behalf of the Junta de Andalucía, Ms. Isabel Sánchez attended, as general director of events and sports facilities; D. Adolfo Molina, government delegate in Córdoba; and D. Eduardo Lucena, territorial delegate of Tourism, Culture and Sport in Córdoba. Mrs. Elisa Aguilar and Mr. Antonio de Torres were present on behalf of the Spanish Basketball Federation as director of competitions and vice president of the entity respectively. Representing the Andalusian Basketball Federation, in addition to Mr. Antonio de Torres as president, attended by Mr. José Luis Pena, vice president and provincial delegate of the FAB in Huelva; and D. Antonio Guillén as General Secretary.
The event was opened by the vice president of the Spanish Basketball Federation and president of the Andalusian Basketball Federation, Mr. Antonio de Torres, who thanked all those attending the event for their presence, showing his pride in organizing this event in the Cordoba capital. He stressed the importance of this tournament and the previous concentration in Córdoba in preparation for the Spanish Women’s Basketball Team, being key for their subsequent participation in the European Championship.
Right after, Mr. Manuel Torrejimeno, Councilor for Education, Childhood, Health and Consumption and Sports of the Córdoba City Council, took the floor, who thanked Antonio de Torres for his effort to bring the best events to the city, and Elisa Aguilar for her presence. in this act. He stressed the high level, not only of the Spanish National Team, but also of the Belgian and Turkish teams, which will surely give attendees basketball matches of the highest level.
Ms. Isabel Sánchez, general director of events and sports facilities of the Junta de Andalucía, continued with her speech, who highlighted the full confidence of the Spanish Basketball Federation in the Andalusian autonomous community, with the celebration of most of the centenary events of the FEB in our territory.
Closing the act taking the floor, Ms. Elisa Aguilar, thanked all the institutions present, which in the end are the ones that make it possible for the national teams to return to Andalusia and Córdoba. The matches of the Ciudad de Córdoba Tournament will be played at the Vista Alegre Municipal Sports Palace and will face off in a triangular format, all against all, the teams from Spain, Belgium and Turkey on June 2, 3 and 4.
