The Spanish badminton academy shines in Montilla ~ Montilla Digital

The Spanish badminton academy experienced a weekend of great emotions at the Montilla Municipal Sports Pavilion, which hosted the TOP Master Under-13 and Under-17. This competition, organized by the Spanish and Andalusian Badminton Federations and the Montilla Badminton Club, with the collaboration of the Municipal Sports Service (SMD) of the Montilla City Council and the Córdoba Provincial Council, has been marked by the dominance of the main favourites, who have not missed their appointment with the medals.


The great winner of the weekend was the Ibizan Yaidel Gil, who won a brilliant golden treble in the Under-17 competition, while among the Under-13s the most outstanding was Xulia Otero, who won the Singles and Women’s Doubles titles .

In the Under-17 competition, Yaidel Gil and Macarena Fernández won gold in the individual events, escorted on the podium by Raúl Bergua, Gonzalo Isabal and Adrián Rodríguez, in the men’s event; and by María García, Daniela Corchón and Alba Prada in the women’s event.

Gil climbed back to the top of the podium in the Men’s Doubles event, in which he teamed up with Ismael Oballe, after beating the Aragonese duo of Raúl Bergua and Gonzalo Isabal in the final. The podium was completed by the couple of Alejandro Bejar and Pepe Fernández and that of Xoel Álvarez and Adrián Rodríguez.

The Women’s Doubles title went to Paula Noya and Alba Prada, who started as main favorites, defeating Belén Guardiola and Sara Sáez. The bronze went to the pairs of Naiara Arnáiz and Marta Calvo and that of Ainhoa ​​Cabrera and Victoria Gutiérrez. In the Mixed Doubles came the third gold for Yaidel Gil from Ibiza, teaming up with Victoria Gutiérrez, thanks to her victory in the final over Quique Gil and Sara Saez.

The U-13 individual competition was dominated by Guillermo Muñoz and Xulia Otero, who won the battle for gold against Magno Salas and Sara Arenas, respectively. Otero also won gold in the Women’s Doubles together with María Freire, defeating María del Pilar Carmona and Leyre Raigón in the final.

On the other hand, the Men’s Doubles title was won by Nil Leiva and Magno Salas, beating José Miguel Calvo and Pedro Jesús Carmona in the final. Finally, the Mixed Doubles event was dominated by Guillermo Muñoz and Sara Arenas, who beat Guillermo González and Celia Díaz in the battle for gold.
