The longest slalom in the world is in La Plagne

This Saturday 1is April, La Plagne (Savoie) welcomes amateur skiers and stars for an XXL challenge: take part in the longest slalom in the world, on its slopes.

No, it’s not a joke. The longest slalom in the world takes place in the French Alps, for a 5e ever-so-great edition. This Saturday 1is april the resort of la Plagne, in Savoie, thinks big, very big. On the slopes, no less than 415 stakes make up this dizzying descent, the equivalent of seven slaloms. In total, the entire course is drawn over four kilometres. This Saturday, 500 participants are expected to complete this “Super Slalom”.

The stars in action

Among the participants at the start of this unusual challenge, several big names in winter sports. Combined world champion Alexis Pinturault is there, as is Tessa Worley. Clément Noël, reigning Olympic slalom champion, will be one of the attractions. Ditto for Martin Fourcade, regular at the event, or even Tess Ledeux, Nastasia Noens… “A unique opportunity for ski lovers, whatever their persuasion, to measure themselves against the stars of the white circus, at the end of a great season marked by the alpine skiing world championships at home. » recall the organizers in a press release.

A celebration before the end of the season

The event was imagined by Julien Lizeroux, former member of the French alpine ski team, and Julien Régnier, former member of the French freestyle ski team. Both from La Plagne, they created this amazing challenge with the intention of being open to everyone. “Each category is rewarded: juniors, seniors, veterans, grandpa and grandma riders, and for the more adventurous, the “old slats” category brings out the old straight skis, those that do not turn” explains the organization.
