The Latvian handball team will host the Olympic champions in Valmiera

The game in the Valmiera Olympic Center will start at 7:40 p.m., and will be broadcast live on the LTV7 TV channel.

In the final qualifying match of the European Championship, the Latvians will face Poland on the road on April 30.

In the first two qualifying matches of the European Championship held in October, Latvia lost 18:35 away to the Olympic champion France and lost to Poland 19:37 at home. In March, Latvia met the Italians and experienced two more losses – 23:36 away and 23:29 at home.

On the other hand, after the victory over Latvia, France beat Italy with 40:29 and was twice superior over Poland, celebrating success with 38:28 and 30:27.

In the subgroup, the first place is occupied by France, which has won all four games and got eight points, Poland is second with four points, followed by Italy with the same number of points, while Latvia has remained without points in four matches.

The head coach of the team, Davor Čuturas, is assisted by Alvaro Senovilla Estevans and Arnold Straume.

The two best teams and the four best third place winners of each subgroup will qualify for the final tournament of the European Championship.

The 2024 European Championship will take place in Germany from January 12 to 28.
