This weekend the badminton Top TTR El Rosario was held in El Rosario (Tenerife) for the Under 13, Under 17 and Absolute categories, both A and B, with a wide representation from rabbits. The components of the Lanzarote Raqueta Club achieved a total of 5 medals, of which one gold, two silver and two bronze.

The first drawer of the podium was occupied by Irene Rodríguez and María José Rodríguez, in the Women’s Doubles A category. In the group stage, the couple from Lanzarote beat Sandra Flores and Ainara González, from CD Caparina Badminton, by 11-21 and 19-21; Sulimar Cabrera and Laura de León, from Tenzúl El Rosario, for 10-21 and 17-21; and Carmen Delia Alonso and Daniela Socas, from CB Los Hinojeros Granadilla, by 11-21 and 13-21, getting a pass to the final phase. The decisive match faced the players of Lanzarote Raqueta Club and the pair formed by Laura Martínez, from CD Caparina Badminton, and Ana María Mesa, from CB Los Hinojeros Granadilla, with victory for Irene and María José Rodríguez by 20-22, 21- 10 and 21-10.

One of the silver medals was achieved by the couple formed by Alberto Yacomar Cabrera and Luis Miguel Fuentes in Men’s A Doubles. In the group stage, the people from Lanzarote were drawn in Group A, where they played against Jonathan Dorta and José Salvador Hernández, from Santa Úrsula Badnor, whom they won by 21-17 and 21-8 and against Alessandro Formica and Kevin Van, from Tenzul El Rosario, beating the Lanzarote by 21-19 and 21-17, thus going to the final. In the last game, the duo Sergio Alonso and Ismael Melián from CB Los Hinojeros Granadilla, beat the Lanzarote Raqueta Club team by 19-21 and 16-21, with Alberto Yacomar Cabrera and Luis Miguel Fuentes winning the silver medal.

They also obtained the silver medal Jorge Betancort and Esmeralda Estefanía Castillo in Mixed Doubles Under 13. The competition system in this category was based on a league, defeating in the first game the couple formed by Diego González and Ainhoa ​​Barreto, from Santa Úrsula Badnor, by 21-5 and 21-6. The second game was not played as their rivals did not show up, leaving everything for the last match where the winner would take the gold and the loser the silver. Finally, Martín Rivero and Nadira Pérez, from Club Deportivo Pajaritos Playa de Tuineje, beat the Lanzarote Raqueta Club players by 17-21 and 19-21, leaving Lanzarote without the possibility of winning gold.

The bronzes, on the other hand, went to Zeneida Ortiz in the Women’s Individual A category and Esmeralda Estefanía Castillo in the Under 13 Women’s Individual category. Zeneida entered the competition in the semifinals, playing her match against Victoria Castro, from Tenzul El Rosario, winning from Tenerife by 21-14 and 21-18, obtaining the bronze for the player from Lanzarote.

For her part, Esmeralda Estefanía began the competition in group A, beating Vera Pereyra, from CD Caparina Badminton, by 21-11 and 21-12, and Emily Torres, from Club Deportivo Pajaritos Playa de Tuineje, by 14-21, 21-17 and 22-20, getting a pass to the final phase, where he lost in the semis against Nadira Pérez, from Club Deportivo Pajaritos Playa de Tuineje, by 14-21 and 5-21
