the judo club awarded the black belt to three of the youngest licensees

You have to be 15 years old to wear the black belt, but the volunteers and teachers of the Lagny judo club have a secret recipe. Lilou, Amandine and Clara received their belt, black, together, even if Lilou is only 14 years old and will not be able to wear it until she is 15 years old. The ceremony took place on Tuesday April 18 at the Léon-Bonnet dojo in Lagny-sur-Marne.

The Lagny judo club awarded the black belt to three champions: Lilou Eymard, 14, Clara Martins, 17 and Amandine Deshayes, 25. Since its foundation in 1953, the seeds of champions have continued to bloom at the city’s judo club and the ceremony is a fine example of success since the three licensees are particularly young. Lilou Eymard started judo at the age of five, she is only 14 years and nine months old and has validated all the conditions to receive the black belt. However, she will not be able to wear it during official competitions. Michel Delmotte, vice president of the judo club indicates: “The rules of judo are strict, Lilou will be able to wear the black belt within our club but she will have to wait until she is 15 years old to wear it during competitions. We are very proud to have seeds of world champions in the club, especially since the three young girls who received the belt are brilliant at school and on the tatami. I have been working in the club since 1967, we are a real family, all the members work together for the success of the club. » Since 1953, the Lagny judo club has produced champions: Thierry Rey, world champion, Serge Dyot, European champion and vice-world champion, Christian Dyot and Philippe Taurines, French and European team champions.

The club will celebrate its 70th anniversary

The club founded by Jean Bonnet in 1953 will celebrate its 70th anniversary on June 10 and 11 and the volunteers will bring together all the members and former world champions of the club for the occasion. The secret of the club’s success was unveiled by their teacher, Guillaume Piquet, himself a former world champion in Ju-Jitsu and in various other martial arts. He explains : “We are the first club in Seine-et-Marne, we have two dojos for 25,000 inhabitants, high-quality teachers and the volunteers of the association do a ‘monstrous’ administrative job. However, we did not expect to explode so much in terms of number of members. » The club has more than 600 including 540 judo graduates.

A new slot on Thursday

To satisfy the growing number of members, the municipality has announced that at the start of the school year in September 2023, the club will be able to count on a new slot. The mayor, Jean-Paul Michel, declares: “This is an important club, I knew the son of the club’s founder, Xavier Bonnet, new teachers have been recruited so well that the association wishes to open a new niche. We have found a solution and the Léon-Bonnet dojo will now be open every Thursday at the judo club. » The club recruits specialized teachers to support its graduates. Guillaume Piquet emphasizes: “Our members are trained by qualified specialists so that the training sessions are precise and the results excellent. We made the bet to have a multidisciplinary association bringing together all the values that resemble us. » The key words of the club are order, respect, humility.
