The crisp anecdote of Victor Osimhen after his departure from Charleroi

Before piling up the goals in Naples and becoming one of the best strikers in the world, Victor Osimhen moved from Charleroi to Lille OSC, where he completely revealed himself.

In an interview with The team, Victor Osimhen spoke about his first steps with Lille, which he joined in the summer of 2019 after a freelance in Charleroi. He recounts in particular his meeting with Christophe Galtier, the current coach of PSG.

“Ah, the arrival in Lille… It was yet another level. Christophe Galtier was coaching. From the first day, he asked me how many goals I was going to score on my debut. I told him that I I was going to wear two. He said to me: ‘Ah yes, you’re not kidding!’ “, confides the Nigerian.

He also reveals an anecdote about defender José Fonte, captain of LOSC, who challenged him on his debut with the Mastiffs. “He said to me: ‘If you really score two goals, I’ll take you to a restaurant.’ I replied: ‘OK, captain!’ He gave me an assist on the first goal, Nantes equalized, then I scored the winning goal in the 80th minute. It was such a shot of adrenaline… I had never felt that before in a big stadium. And then, game after game, everything fell into place.”
