The Connecticut Huskies win the NCAA basketball championship in front of 70,000

The fourth-seeded Huskies were led by Tristen Newton with 19 points, while Adama Sanogo, who was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player or MVP, scored 17 points.

“They wrote us off before the season, they wrote us off during the season – we weren’t among the seeded teams,” Huskies head coach Dan Hurley said after the win.

This was the first final in the history of the San Diego team, but they failed to win the title in the first attempt. Kishad Johnson was the top scorer for “Aztecs” with 14 points.

“Huskies” also became NCAA champions in 1999, 2004, 2011 and 2014.
