He also clarified that there had been “sexual tension” that evening between him and the 23-year-old girl who has since reported the alleged rape. During his pre-trial detention at the end of January, he first denied knowing his accuser, then would have changed his version twice after being confronted with video evidence showing them together in the Barcelona nightclub where the facts would have taken place. clerk in the toilet. According to him, at no time did the alleged victim tell him that she did not want to have a relationship.

A request for provisional release rejected

Dani Alves’ latest reversal comes as the player decided to justify his early releases in an effort to protect the young woman. If he decided to hide his infidelity, it is also because he feared that his wife, the Spanish model Joana Sanz with whom he has been married for eight years, would find out. The latter has since decided to end their relationship. In early March, Dinorah Santana, the mother of her children, said she supported her former companion.

According to El Pais, Alves also tried to obtain his provisional release, but the magistrates did not accept it “because they consider that there is a high risk that the player, of Brazilian nationality and with significant financial means , run away”. The Brazilian therefore returned to prison pending trial. A new request for provisional release should be filed by his lawyers in the coming days.
